As English-medium instruction (EMI) continues to proliferate across the world, this volume offers a timely critique of its ideology and policy. The new political space shaped by the European Union has boosted the learning of foreign languages, however, the English language has acquired a higher profile than any other foreign language. David Lasagabaster is an associate professor at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Spain. He has published on second and third language acquisition, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), attitudes and motivation, and multilingualism, and the results of his research can be found in international journals, books and edited books. David Lasagabaster would like to thank the Basque Government for the scholarship that facilitated his stay at the City University of New York.
